Dr Kevin McDonald
Dr Kevin McDonald holds a DEA and Doctorate
from Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Before
joining the Sociology Program at the University of Melbourne in
1996 he taught at the Phillip Institute and RMIT. Kevin's research
focuses on questions of action and identity, in particular in the
world of young people: from the experience of groups living contemporary
social problems such as poverty and urban dislocation, to exploring
new forms of commitment and identity in social movements. His research
currently is focussed in two areas: this project exploring the construction
of identity and social relationship among drug users, and he is
currently writing a book on global movements.

Dr John Fitzgerald
Associate Professor John Fitzgerald is a
Senior Research Fellow
at the Centre for the Study of health & Society, University
of Melbourne. Since finishing his PhD on the Pharmacology of ecstasy
in 1993, he has been doing qualitative research in community settings
on a range of illegal drugs, Khat, ecstasy, amphetamines, hallucinogens
and most recently heroin.

Ms Helena Jedjud
Ms Helena Jedjud is a qualified youth worker,
disability worker and drug and alcohol worker. Helena is the project
co-ordinator and the key liaison officer for young people and service
providers connected to the My Body, My Drugs, My World research
project. Helena's background has been working with young people
in the drug and alcohol field. She has extensive knowledge and experience
of working with young people, drug and alcohol work and service
provision based on an outreach model. Her previous work has been
a manager of a Needle Syringe Program and a co-ordinator of an outreach
team of the Youth Substance Abuse Service based in the inner-city
of Melbourne.

Ms Fiona Martin
Ms Fiona Martin is studying for her PhD
as part of the "My body, my drugs, my world" research
project. Her previous Master's research in Social Theory focussed
on humanitarian volunteer work and perceptions of inequality in
the contemporary social world. She has experience as a volunteer
with homeless young people in Melbourne and in the Canadian prison
system. Her current research is on young mothers, pregnant women
and injecting drug use. She is interested in how young women experience
the often-conflicting relationships and identities involved in using
and being a mum at the same time.
